Angers has a very loooooong history. Sorry, I don't know how loooooong.
The most famous landmark of Angers is the Chateau d'Angers.
This fortress was built in 13th Century.
A map showing the city in old time. Chateau is on middle, most high above on the map looking below (in fact looking NE) on the whole city. River La Maine running through the city. Walls protect people from enemies. Such a strong and beautiful city.
In compare to today's map (by imagine, turn the map clockwise 135 degrees), we can see that the walls surrounding the city is replaced by main roads with busy traffic.

Soon I realized why the entrance fee is not very expensive -- not much to see inside!!

This 'mill tower' is the highest point. Go up to the top by a narrow, slippery staircase.
Looking around on the mill tower is good good good.
La Maine is a silent river, at least it was in my few days there.The bridge, Pont de Verdun looks nice with violet flowers along the walkways.
Strolling on the wall, enjoy sunshine and beautiful scene .... let's sing "~what a wonderful world~~"
Cathedrale Saint-Maurice is another must go spot.
It is on the old town area outside the Chateau.
